Quarantined for Easter? Still want to have an egg hunt but don't have the energy? No problem! This virtual Easter egg hunt features twelve photos with an Easter egg hidden in each picture.

How this egg hunt works..

This egg hunt is super simple, but some eggs may be harder to find than others. I've included a hint for each one in the photo description if you need a helpful clue.

Spring has sprung with all its glorious beauty in my neck of the woods. I love to growing flowers and enjoy meandering through flower gardens of all types. This scavenger hunt features ten flowers. The clues often have quite a few hints for those who have studied the history of these beauties. This scavenger hunt could lend itself well to an outdoor hunt, but you may wish to take something like a penny to the back of the flower pictures to keep them from blowing away.

Most are well known by those of us who grow flowers, but this hunt may be challenging for those who aren't familiar with the names of flowers. Have no fear! I have included options to help identify the flowers. Each clue has an end-rhyming word in the second line and the last line includes an adjective that begins with the first letter of the flower. You have the option to offer a word bank if players are stumped.

This scavenger hunt might be additionally educational as some of the clues have a few vocabulary words that players might learn how to pronounce in addition to the meaning of the words. I chose photos that exemplified some of the more well-known varieties of these flowers; participants may wish to search for images of additional varieties. This would be a great time to plant your own flower garden after playing the game; you might consider planting a couple from the scavenger hunt. You might also consider going for a walk and identifying various flowers, taking photos of your favorites.

Preparation Before the Hunt (see graphics below for free printables)

• Print the small flower picture page for yourself and cut out each small flower picture and place them on a table in a room where players will read each clue. If you are not sure how to identify the flowers, I've included pages with each flower labeled; you may wish to print a "cheat sheet" page for yourself and label each flower.
• Print one small flower page for each participant and cut out each small flower picture.
• Select a different room(s) and place the small flower pictures randomly around the room(s) in places where they can easily see the pictures.
• Print the clue page.
• Print the congratulations bouquet page (one for each participant) and hide in a place where players won't readily see them.
• Print the answers to the clues if needed.
• Print the word bank if needed.

Directions for the Flowers Scavenger Hunt

1. Have players read the first clue and solve the riddle and identify the picture of the flower.
2. After solving the riddle, players find and bring back the photo of the matching flower.
3. Repeat for each riddle.
4. After all riddles are solved and small flower pictures are found, have participants search for the congratulations bouquet(s).

Katrena's Indoor Scavenger Hunt #16

This scavenger hunt is all about tools. Lots of people are interested to know what is in a toolbox. Some names of tools and supplies in this hunt are a little more challenging than others; however, I have included rhyming riddles to help those who might not be as familiar with tool names. I recommend having a word bank list on hand if the players get stumped on a riddle.

My Papaw was a brick mason and taught himself how to build houses. He was amazingly talented! I remember when I was younger, he sent me out to his truck, filled to the brim with what looked to be a million different tools, to retrieve one of those mysterious items. He told me the name of the tool, but I quickly realized my search would be in vain unless I gathered more information. Papaw carefully and patiently described the tool; I was eventually able to deliver the item. Knowing the names of various tools has its advantages.

Before the Hunt

1. Print and cut out the rhyming riddles below.
2. Print the answers below if needed - you might cut out only the answers as a word bank if needed.
3. Print the prizes below.
4. Gather the tools listed in the answers or print pictures of the items. Use a picture of the saw and any other tools that might pose a safety hazard for participants. *An adult may need to accompany the participant to each area and to ensure safety, depending on the age, maturity, and ability of the participants if you are using any actual tools.
5. Place an empty box or toolbox in the starting area.
6. Keep Riddle #1.
7. Tape Riddle #2 onto the tool described on Riddle #1.
8. Repeat until Riddles #2-12 are attached to a tool/picture.
9. Tape a prize to the answer for Riddle #12.
10. Hide the tools/pictures around the house. If the weather is nice, consider hiding them outside. To prevent them from finding additional tools early, you might designate one room or area for searching for each riddle - if you do this, write down the rooms or areas in order.

Directions for Players

1. Go over safety rules - no running and do not touch any sharp edges!
2. Give the player(s) Riddle #1.
3. Once they solve the riddle, have them find that item and place it in the toolbox. Tell players which room or area in which to search if you have designated areas for each tool.
4. Repeat until all riddles are solved and all tools/pictures are found and in the toolbox and the final prize is found.

Having a variety of indoor activities can help keep the kids away from the electronic devices and interacting with one another. Scavenger hunts are a fun and entertaining way to encourage reading, teamwork if more than one child is playing, and offers that mysterious quality that keeps everyone engaged!

This is my thirteenth treasure hunt in this series. It features twelve clues, answers, and printable awards at the end. If you have more than one child playing, you may wish to print multiple copies of the clues or have the kids to take turns finding one set. You can always make scavenger hunts easier or harder by how you hide the clues.

Directions:

1. Have the players go to another area while you print, cut, and hide clues.
2. Click on each image below to enlarge - you may fit two pages on one sheet of paper.
3. Click file-print to print desired sheets.
4. Cut out each clue and the rewards.
5. Keep the first clue - hide clue #2 in the answer for clue #1, hide clue #3 in the answer for clue #2, etc. and then hide the reward(s) in the answer for clue #12

Katrena's Free Indoor Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt is full of possibilities for learning and fun! The ten rhyming clues give hints for where to find the next clue as the kids think of the missing word with three choices for printable prizes at the end.

Each clue alludes to popular characters one might recognize from nursery rhymes, stories, or comic strips. You might continue the fun by identifying each character and reciting the nursery rhyme or story after completing the hunt or after solving each riddle.

Directions:

1. Click on the images below to enlarge and print.
2. Keep clue #1 and hide remaining clues in the area hinted at in the previous clue (for example, hide clue #2 where you would look when solving clue #1, etc.)
3. Give player(s) clue #1 – when they solve the riddle, encourage them to look for the next clue using the hints in clue #1.

I recently received a nice note from an 11-year-old who requested that I develop scavenger hunt #8. Although I live in the United States, this reader is playing my Wildflower Bouquets games on the other side of the globe! That has inspired me to create a scavenger hunt that reminds us that we are all under the same sky and that we all call Earth our home.

Aizaz, this one is for you. I hope you like it!

This hunt includes ten rhyming riddles with a celestial theme. As each riddle is solved, the leader can give players a hint where to look for the next clue. I hid each riddle inside a folded letter found in the last graphic on this game. Suggestions with several options for hiding the clues make this scavenger hunt great for home or school. The letters might be hidden in order or scrambled to add another challenge level for the players to spell the terms at the conclusion of the game.

This hunt involves basic astronomy terms. Because the riddles rhyme, younger kids may be able to guess some of these, or you might take the opportunity to learn more about our sky together. Here are a few web sites that you might wish to study before attempting this treasure hunt. Some of the terms are easy, but others might be a bit more challenging!

After the player(s) solve each riddle, offer a hint for where to look for the next riddle.

Free Astronomy Scavenger Hunt

Print and cut these letters or you might make them larger by cutting a piece of colored construction paper into ten pieces and writing each letter on a piece. I folded these around riddles #2 through #10 and placed the last one where players would look after solving the last riddle. Younger players might wish to name each letter. Scramble the order that players find each letter to make this treasure hunt more challenging.

Wizard of Oz Scavenger Hunt – Free Clues and a Surprise at the End!

We're off to solve some riddles and enjoy a scavenger hunt!

This Wizard of Oz themed indoor scavenger hunt highlights various scenes, characters, and life lessons from the popular original 1939 movie. It encourages literacy and critical thinking skills as kids read the rhyming clues, try to fill in the blanks, and then find, assemble, and read the final surprise. The scavenger hunt includes a short set-up time and very few supplies.

Directions for playing the Wizard of Oz Scavenger Hunt

1. Print the 10 riddles and location prompts and cut down the center, separating the riddles from the prompts.
2. Print the 10 surprise ending clues, cut, and hide them in each area as described by each prompt.*
3. Place a piece of construction paper over the riddles so that the child(ren) can only see the latest one.
4. Have the child(ren) read the riddle and fill in the blank.
5. Once the child(ren) successfully solves the riddle, read the prompt that matches the number on the riddle.
6. The child(ren) will then search for the clue in the location described by the prompt.
7. Once all clues are found, assemble the words so that they may read the surprise sentence!**

*Clues may be hidden in order, or you might add more of a challenge by mixing them up. You may wish to cut out construction paper and attach the clues to the colored paper or hide in a colored paper pocket to add a little variety. If more than one child is playing, print a set of clues for each child, hiding each set in the described area so that every child will have the surprise sentence at the end.
**You might wish to have the child(ren) glue the sentence on a colorful piece of paper and draw his or her own picture of a Wizard of Oz scene as a memento.

Indoor scavenger hunts can be a great way to encourage the kids to work toward a goal. Summertime gets mighty hot where I live, and having some fun indoor activities can be a great way to beat the heat, be prepared for rainy days, and beat boredom. If you have several children, encourage them to alternate finding clues or have them to work together as a team. For example, if you have a younger child who cannot read, pair him or her with an older child who can read.

This scavenger hunt has ten rhyming clues and will send the kids to various rooms inside the house. I have included clues and answers within the article and clues, answers, and three printable prizes as screen shots.
