Easter Scavenger Hunt Based on the Gospel of Mark

Easter Scavenger Hunt
I designed this Easter scavenger hunt to help children to learn more about the Biblical Easter account in Mark 14 through 16. After reading the chapters together, you can help the kids to see what they remember by using this scavenger hunt.

This scavenger hunt is easily adaptable to church groups - simply tweak the hints for where to look to suit the location.

Set-up for the Easter Scavenger Hunt:
  1. Click on the images below to enlarge.
  2. Print and cut out the 12 questions.
  3. Print the answers to the questions if needed.
  4. Print the suggestions for hiding the letters or modify as needed.
  5. Print and cut out the hidden message letters and "the" (1 set for each participant or team)
  6. Place one letter in each egg (or simply hide the letters if you prefer not to use eggs) and place in the designated area ensuring that each participant will have the opportunity to find each letter - mix up the order of the letters for an added challenge. I recommend hiding all eggs with one letter in one location and then move to the next location and hide the next letter, etc. You can easily make this scavenger hunt more or less challenging by the way in which you hide the letters/eggs.
Directions:
  1. Read the first question - when participants answer correctly, tell them where to look. (Consider pairing younger kids with older ones or have participants rotate reading and answering questions.)
  2. Repeat for questions #2-12.
  3. Once participants have found all 12 letters, give them "the" and have them assemble the letters to spell "Jesus the Messiah"
  4. If time allows, have participants glue the message on a piece of paper and encourage them draw a picture of the Easter story.
  5. This would be a good opportunity to discuss what a Messiah is and have everyone talk about the Bible passage and what it means to them.

Easter Scavenger Hunt With Rhyming Clues

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt With Rhyming Clues
This Easter treasure hunt offers some fun variety combined with solving riddles, hunting Easter eggs, and finding a hidden message! My three daughters, ages 11, 9, and 5, enjoyed this scavenger hunt with lots of surprises along the way.

You will need Easter eggs in multiples of 12 up to a total of 48 eggs and one basket for each child or team of children. This scavenger hunt may be played with one or more children and is well suited to indoor or outdoor play, depending on the weather and your own needs. You can vary the difficulty of the game through your choice of hiding places for the eggs.

While the children are in another area...
  1. Print the 12 rhyming clues and cut on lines. (Click on the images below to enlarge and then use File - Print.)
  2. Print answers to the clues if needed.
  3. Print any or all of the color-coded EASTER SUNDAY cards and cut on lines, placing one letter inside of each Easter egg.
  4. Hide the Easter eggs.
When the children return...
  1. Read the clues and ask for answers - arrange the kids on teams or call on children individually. (I had my three children to take turns so that each would answer four clues.)
  2. After all clues are answered, give directions about the number of eggs each child should find. For example, I have three children and hid twelve eggs, making the limit for each child four eggs.
  3. After the kids find all the hidden eggs, have them open the eggs to discover the hidden message. If you have printed more than one color, have the kids sort the letters by color first.
While playing this game, the kids can learn about teamwork, colors, counting, reading, rhyming, and perhaps a few new things about Easter.

Easter Scavenger Egg Hunt – Free Clues and Answers

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt With Clues and Answers
Looking for a new twist on an Easter egg hunt that will challenge the older kids? This Easter egg scavenger hunt includes puzzles to encourage the kids to think creatively as they attempt to solve the riddles before hunting the egg. This scavenger hunt works particularly well with older kids, and you can pair the older kids with younger children if you have a mixed group.

Some of the terms may be unfamiliar to children, so this hunt is a great opportunity to education children about the Easter story and how the words fit into the biblical account.

How to play the Easter scavenger egg hunt:
  1. Hide 12 eggs for each child/team when the children are not in the area.
  2. Give each child/team a copy of clues #1 and #2 (click on the image to enlarge the graphic before printing).
  3. Have the kids to solve each riddle and write their answers on the blank section on the right.
  4. The kids may hunt one egg for each correct answer - give hints if needed!
