Katrena's Indoor Scavenger Hunt #2 – Free Clues, Directions, and Answers

Free Rhyming Scavenger Hunt Clues and Answers © Katrena
Scavengers hunts are always a hit at my house. This indoor treasure hunt challenges the kids with rhyming clues that will get them searching throughout the house. The red word in each clue gives a hint for the answer because the answer rhymes with or sounds very similar to that word.

Directions for Katrena's Indoor Scavenger Hunt #2:

  1. Print clues #1-10 (click on the image to enlarge and then select "file" and "print") and cut on the lines.
  2. Keep clue #1.
  3. Hide clue #2 at the answer for clue #1.
  4. Hide clue #3 at the answer for clue #2.
  5. Hide clue #4 at the answer for clue #3.
  6. Hide clue #5 at the answer for clue #4.
  7. Hide clue #6 at the answer for clue #5.
  8. Hide clue #7 at the answer for clue #6.

  11. Hide clue #10 at the answer for clue #9.
  12. Place prize or reward at the answer for clue #10.

If you have kids of various ages, you might want to have them work together as a team or take turns solving and searching for the clues.

  1. For #4, zero and window do not rhyme, you should fix it before you screw up more scavenger hunts like you messed up mine!!!

    1. Thanks for your feedback on my scavenger hunt. Not all of the rhymes are exact because I want the clues to incorporate basic terms but try to make the clue itself rather obvious. My kids did this scavenger hunt before I posted it, and they were able to guess each answer, but no hunt is going to work perfectly for everyone. If you decide to try more of my hunts, feel free to read over all clues and answers to see if you think it might work for you. Many, but not all, of them have exact rhymes.

    2. One additional suggestion would be to give additional clues if the players cannot guess the answer. I post answers to all of my riddles so that the person leading the hunt can offer suggestions if the players are stumped.

    3. Unbelievable rudeness towards someone who has taken the time to post helpful stuff on the internet rather than the normal trash. Well done Katrena from a grateful Dad in England.

    4. Thanks for the positive feedback! I do try to put up games that my kids enjoyed, but I realize not everyone may enjoy them. I'm so glad to hear that my scavenger hunt was a good experience for you.

    5. Way to be graceful Katrena! I'm trying to decide which one of your hunts to use at our upcoming birthday party! So many great choices.

    6. Thanks so much, stonemillnz! I'll readily admit that some days I am more graceful than other days. I'm honored that you would choose one of my hunts for the birthday party and hope it goes well.

    7. Maybe "But they will be shut tight when the temperature is low"? Your treasure hunts are great, and I'm so glad you are willing to share them. I'm excited to try them with my kids.

    8. That's a good one, happifeat! I'll also suggest making a "word bank" of answers for my scavenger hunts. If the kids are having a hard time thinking of an answer, you could always pull out the list and see if they can pick out the correct answer from the list. Or you might suggest three words, one of which is correct if you don't want them to see all the correct answers before seeing the clues.

    1. You're welcome, Val! I'm so glad to hear that folks are finding my resources to be helpful on these snowed in days. I know it can be challenging to find something different and unique on snow days. I just posted a new one on weather patterns today - I hope you guys will check it out!

  5. I notice that the negative comment is from anonymous! Amazing what people have the nerve to say on the internet without showing their identity. Thank you for sharing these riddles. I found them very useful.

    1. Thanks for the nice feedback on my scavenger hunt! If you click on the clues (smaller white box), I believe it should pop up larger on the screen. Try pressing and holding down the ctrl button on your keyboard and while holding down ctrl, click on the letter "p" in order to print. Make sure your printer is on - if your printer is not printing anything you try to print from your computer (for instance, you recently replaced your printer), check your properties and make sure your computer is set up to print on the printer connected to your computer. Another option would be to copy and paste the clues into a document and print from there. I hope that helps!

  16. Thank you sooo much for this, am writing from NZ where we are under lockdown (again) for Covid19 and this will help greatly with keeping kids entertained tomorrow. I simply cannot believe the rudeness of the first comment above, how small minded some people can be. Thank you for taking the time to publish this for the benefit of others!
